Whispers is a quiet place to share a kind thought, a small joy, or something you would like to remember. We care about keeping it calm and private. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Your account. An email address, used only to send you a passwordless sign in link, and a display name you choose.
  • Your whispers. The text you write, an optional little icon, and the time it was posted.
  • Location, only if you choose. When you turn on "include location" for a whisper, we store its approximate coordinates so it can appear in Nearby. Nearby whispers are shown to others anonymously, with only an approximate distance. You can use Whispers fully without ever sharing your location.
  • Light usage data. We count how many distinct people have viewed a whisper, and keep the basic technical information needed to run the service securely.

On device intelligence

The Refine and Translate features run entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence. Your whispers are not sent to us or to any third party for those features.

How your name is shown

You only ever see who wrote a whisper if they are your friend. Everyone else stays anonymous, and Nearby whispers are always anonymous. Friends are added in person by scanning each other's QR codes.

How we use your data

To operate the app, sign you in, show you relevant whispers, and keep the community kind through moderation. We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or third party trackers.

Who helps us run Whispers

We use a small number of trusted providers strictly to operate the service: a database host to store your data and an email provider to deliver your sign in links. They process data only on our behalf.

Keeping things safe

Every whisper is screened by an automatic content filter before it is posted, and you can report anything that feels wrong or block another person at any time. We review reports and act on them.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Settings, then Delete Account. This permanently removes your whispers, your friend connections, and your account.

Children

Whispers is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Meaningful changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
